Slot himself reacted to the question with humour, describing it as "one of the weirdest" he had encountered in his managerial career. He jokingly suggested Alonso might take over "in six months" or "maybe tomorrow". Van Dijk's strong comments followed Liverpool's commanding 3-0 Champions League victory over Marseille. The Dutch defender emphasised the entire squad's full support for their head coach. Liverpool currently maintain a 13-match unbeaten run across all competitions, stretching back to late November.
