Wales men to play friendly in Romania this June

The Football Association of Wales has confirmed an international friendly against Romania in Bucharest on 16 June.

The Wales men's national team will face Romania in a friendly match this summer, the Football Association of Wales confirmed. Head coach Craig Bellamy takes his side to the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest for the fixture on Tuesday, 16 June. Both nations arranged the meeting after they failed to qualify for the upcoming World Cup finals, according to Sky Sports.

Wales last played Romania in the group stages of Euro 2016, securing a 2-1 victory. This upcoming match provides Bellamy with an opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the next Nations League campaign. The game is scheduled to kick off at 19:45 local time, per reports from The Guardian.

Romania, led by Edward Iordanescu, finished their recent qualification group in third place. Wales also missed out on a tournament spot following a play-off defeat earlier this year. The match in Bucharest is the first confirmed fixture of the summer window for the Welsh side, as noted by Reuters.
