Seattle Reign captain Jess Fishlock has announced she will retire from professional football at the conclusion of the 2026 NWSL campaign.

Fishlock, 39, is the final remaining member of the original 2013 Seattle roster still playing in the National Women's Soccer League. Her decision ends a 14-year career in the United States, where she became one of the most decorated players in league history. According to Seattle Reign FC, Fishlock is second in NWSL history for total appearances with 219 matches.

The midfielder won the league's Most Valuable Player award in 2021 and secured three NWSL Shields with the club. Per Forbes, she is the all-time assist leader for the Reign with 30 and ranks second for the club in total goals. Her final regular-season home match is scheduled for 1 November 2026 on the league's Decision Day.

Fishlock previously retired from the Wales national team in October 2025 following their first major tournament appearance at Euro 2025. She finished her international career as the record appearance holder for her country with 166 caps and 48 goals. She recently joined the Welsh national coaching staff as a technical assistant, per the FAW.
