St Mirren interim manager Craig McLeish believes his side can defeat Celtic in Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

Interim manager Craig McLeish stated St Mirren possess the experience required to defeat Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final this Sunday. McLeish stepped into the role following the recent departure of Stephen Robinson to Luton Town. He noted that the squad previously achieved results against the Glasgow side and remain capable of repeating the feat at Hampden Park, per Sky Sports.

St Mirren currently sit fifth in the Scottish Premiership table after a 2-1 defeat to Hearts last weekend. Celtic lead the league and enter the fixture as defending cup holders. The Glasgow club won the previous meeting between the two teams 3-0 in early April, according to the Scottish Professional Football League.

McLeish confirmed the players feel confident despite their underdog status for the encounter. The winner of the tie will face either Rangers or Motherwell in the final. St Mirren last won the competition in 1987, while Celtic seek their 43rd Scottish Cup title, per STV News.
