Rochdale and York City face National League title decider

Football

Rochdale and York City will meet on the final day of the National League season to determine which club earns automatic promotion.

York City travel to Rochdale on Saturday for a fixture that determines the National League title. According to Sky Sports, York City manager Stuart Maynard described the match as one of the most significant games in the English football pyramid. Both clubs are competing for the single automatic promotion spot to return to the English Football League.

York City currently lead the table, but a victory for Rochdale would see the home side overtake them on the final day. Per the National League, the match at Crown Oil Arena is expected to reach stadium capacity. Rochdale entered the final weekend following a run of consistent form to close the gap on the leaders.

Stuart Maynard told reporters that his players must remain focused on their own performance rather than the atmosphere. The National League confirmed that the champion will be presented with the trophy immediately following the conclusion of the match. The losing side will enter the play-offs to compete for the second promotion place.
