Four attackers from Hearts and Motherwell comprise the shortlist for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award. Hearts forwards Lawrence Shankland and Claudio Braga join Motherwell duo Elijah Just and Tawanda Maswanhise as candidates for the annual honour. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow next month, according to PFA Scotland.
Shankland won the award last season and remains a central figure for Hearts. His teammate Braga joined the Edinburgh club in the summer. Motherwell's inclusion of two players follows a productive season for the North Lanarkshire side. Just and Maswanhise have formed a significant partnership at Fir Park, per Sky Sports.
The shortlist is voted for by players across the Scottish Premiership. It excludes players from Celtic and Rangers for the first time in several seasons. The PFA Scotland awards also recognise achievements in the lower leagues and the women's game. Hearts currently occupy a top-six position in the league table, while Motherwell remain in the top half, per STV News.
