Newcastle United forward William Osula scored his first Premier League goal to secure a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe watched his side secure a 1-0 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion at St James' Park on Saturday. Forward William Osula scored the only goal of the match, marking his first strike in the Premier League since joining the club. Howe chose to start the 22-year-old forward in place of injured personnel, according to the Premier League.

Brighton struggled to break down a disciplined Newcastle defence throughout the ninety minutes. The result moves Newcastle into eighth place in the table as they continue their pursuit of European qualification, per Sky Sports. Brighton remain in the top half of the standings despite the narrow defeat on Tyneside.

Osula arrived from Sheffield United in August 2024 for an initial fee of £10m, and this performance justified the faith shown by the coaching staff. The victory eases recent pressure on Howe following a run of inconsistent results in April. Newcastle next travel to face Chelsea, while Brighton host Everton at the Amex Stadium.
