Aston Villa midfielder Miri Taylor has confirmed her intention to play for the Scotland women's national team. Taylor, who previously represented England at youth level, qualifies for Scotland through her grandmother. The 24-year-old midfielder joined Villa from Liverpool in July 2024, according to Sky Sports.
Taylor stated that she did not feel mature enough for the international transition during her time at Liverpool. She now credits her move to the West Midlands for providing the right environment to pursue her international ambitions. Taylor made 13 appearances for Liverpool during the 2023-24 season before a loan spell at Aston Villa led to a permanent transfer, per The Guardian.
Scotland manager Pedro Martinez Losa has previously monitored the midfielder's progress. Taylor now focuses on securing a place in the squad for the 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign. She hopes to honour her grandmother's heritage by earning her first senior cap during the current international cycle, according to reports from The Athletic.
