Millwall Football Club is considering taking legal action against Westminster City Council following the use of the club badge in a training document. The image depicted a person in Ku Klux Klan robes wearing the South London club's crest on their chest, according to Sky Sports. The council used the illustration as part of an anti-racism training module designed for its employees.
Millwall officials described the use of the badge as offensive and stated they would pursue the matter through formal legal channels. Per The Guardian, the council apologised for the error and removed the material from its systems. A spokesperson for the local authority admitted the image should never have been used and confirmed an internal review into the incident.
Footballing authorities have been notified of the situation while the club's legal representatives assess the damage to its reputation. Millwall have previously worked with various anti-discrimination groups to improve its image, per The Athletic. No further comment from the club is expected until formal proceedings begin.
