Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney wants to earn a dedicated section for the club's recent history at the national museum in Wrexham.

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney toured the Football Museum of Wales on Monday. The facility occupies the renovated Wrexham Museum and will open fully in 2026. McElhenney viewed historical displays including a 1920s turnstile from the Racecourse Ground and a shirt belonging to Welsh international Billy Meredith.

The American actor stated he wants the club to earn a dedicated section within the museum. He noted the team has more to achieve before it deserves such a permanent display alongside historic Welsh footballing figures.

Wrexham secured promotion to League One earlier in April, marking a second successive move up the English football pyramid. McElhenney was joined by his wife and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-star Kaitlin Olson during the visit, according to The Leader.

The museum project received £5.4m in funding from the Welsh Government, per the Wrexham County Borough Council. It aims to celebrate the heritage of the sport in Wales from grassroots to the national squads.
