Villarreal head coach Marcelino Garcia Toral will leave the club following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. The 60-year-old manager ends a three-year stint with the Yellow Submarine, according to Villarreal. Marcelino returned to the Estadio de la Ceramica in November 2023 for a second spell and led the team through several European and domestic campaigns.
The club currently sits ninth in the La Liga table with 46 points after 34 matches, per Sky Sports. Villarreal officials confirmed the departure earlier today, noting that the decision concludes his tenure at the end of his contract. During his time at the club, he oversaw more than 100 competitive fixtures across all competitions.
The Spanish side has yet to name a successor for the vacancy, which becomes effective in June. Marcelino previously managed the club between 2013 and 2016 before his recent return. Villarreal faces Sevilla in its next league fixture as it attempts to secure a top-half finish in the final weeks of the season, according to Reuters.
