Leicester City face back-to-back relegations

Leicester City sit 23rd in the Championship following a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City and a failed appeal against a six-point deduction.

Leicester City are four points adrift of safety in the Championship with four matches remaining. A 1-0 home defeat against Swansea City on 11 April left Gary Rowett’s side in 23rd position, according to Sky Sports. Zan Vipotnik scored the only goal of the game at the King Power Stadium.

The club recently lost its final appeal against a six-point deduction for financial breaches. An independent commission found the club guilty of exceeding the permitted £83m loss limit by £20.8m over a 36-month period, per Goal. This penalty was originally imposed in February 2026.

Leicester have managed just two victories in the current calendar year. The team next travels to face Portsmouth on 18 April. This fixture represents a significant opportunity for survival as Portsmouth currently sit one point above the relegation zone, according to Last Word On Sports. Following that match, the club faces Hull City and Millwall in its attempt to avoid a second successive relegation.
