Former Premier League midfielder Jorginho has withdrawn his previous criticism of American pop singer Chappell Roan following a misunderstanding. The Italian international issued a public statement clarifying that the singer was not responsible for an incident involving his daughter, per Sky Sports.
Jorginho had previously suggested that the performer was involved in a situation where a security guard reduced his daughter to tears. However, the player confirmed on Monday that Roan was not present during the encounter. He expressed regret for any distress caused to the musician, according to The Guardian.
According to reports from ESPN, the midfielder stated that the security official acted independently and that his initial assessment of the situation was incorrect. Jorginho spent several seasons in London, winning major honours with Chelsea before moving to Arsenal in January 2023. He currently plays for a club outside the English top flight. The singer has not yet released a formal response to the apology.
