The former England international midfielder has ended his playing career to take a management role in the United Arab Emirates.

Jonjo Shelvey has retired from professional football to become the manager of Arabian Falcons FC, according to Sky Sports. The 34-year-old midfielder takes charge of the club in the UAE Second Division League, which serves as the third tier of football in the United Arab Emirates. Shelvey previously played for Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Swansea City during a career that spanned 16 years.

He earned six caps for the England national team and most recently played for Eyupspor in the Turkish Super Lig. Shelvey joined the Turkish side after a period with Nottingham Forest, where he made eight appearances. Arabian Falcons FC confirmed the appointment via its official social media channels, marking Shelvey's first role in senior management. The club is based in Dubai and organises its fixtures within the regional league structure, per Reuters. Shelvey’s transition to the dugout ends a playing career that included more than 270 Premier League appearances for four different clubs.
