Hearts on brink of historic title as Rangers face trip

Football

League leaders Hearts host Rangers on Monday with the chance to extend their advantage in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Hearts currently lead the Scottish Premiership table with 73 points after 34 matches. They sit three points clear of second-placed Celtic and four ahead of Rangers in third, according to OneFootball. Derek McInnes's side recently defeated local rivals Hibernian 2-1 to maintain their position at the summit.

Rangers travel to Tynecastle Park on Monday following a 3-2 home defeat to Motherwell. Manager Danny Rohl stated his team still has an opportunity to win but requires results and external assistance, per The Independent. Victory for Hearts would leave Rangers seven points adrift with three matches remaining.

Celtic occupy second place with 70 points and visit fifth-placed Hibernian on Sunday. A win for the visitors at Easter Road would apply pressure to the leaders before the Monday night fixture. Hearts aim to become the first club outside of the Glasgow duopoly to win the league since Aberdeen in 1985, as reported by Fox Sports.
