Supporters of Go Ahead Eagles displayed a large tifo for kit manager Carla Whittie during her final home match at De Adelaarshorst. Whittie retires after 28 years with the Eredivisie club, per Dutch news outlet NOS. The display featured a portrait of the staff member alongside a message thanking her for nearly three decades of work.
Whittie joined the Deventer-based side in 1996 and remained a fixture behind the scenes through various ownership and management changes. The club organised the tribute prior to kick-off to recognise her long-term contribution to the first-team set-up. According to reports from ESPN Netherlands, players and staff also participated in the farewell celebrations on the pitch.
The tribute took place ahead of the fixture against Feyenoord on Thursday evening. Go Ahead Eagles confirmed that Whittie is a highly respected figure within the organisation. The match proceeded following the ceremony, which fans and club officials attended to show their appreciation for her dedication to the Dutch professional side.
