Queiroz previously served as an assistant manager at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson across two different spells.

His extensive international experience includes roles with Portugal, Iran, Egypt, and Qatar. The veteran coach replaces the vacancy left following recent shifts in the technical leadership of the Ghanaian men's team. The association aims to utilise his experience to organise the squad for the tournament, per Sky Sports.

Queiroz is expected to begin his duties immediately to prepare the defence and tactical structure of the side. His contract details remain undisclosed, but the focus shifts to the qualification and preparation phases for the global showpiece. Ghana officials expressed confidence in his ability to lead the group on the international stage, per ESPN.
