The Spanish football federation (RFEF) issued a suspension to Gerard Pique after he confronted a referee following FC Andorra's 1-0 defeat by Albacete, per Reuters. Officials reported that Pique entered the field of play at the final whistle to protest decisions made during the match. The RFEF disciplinary committee confirmed the ban covers 15 matches, which equates to approximately two months of competition.
Under the terms of the sanction, the former Barcelona defender cannot access the pitch, the dressing rooms, or the technical bench during this period. The ruling followed the publication of the referee's report, which described Pique's conduct as offensive toward the officiating crew, according to ESPN.
FC Andorra currently competes in the second tier of Spanish football. The club has not yet confirmed whether it intends to appeal the decision. Pique has owned the club through his company, Kosmos, since 2018. The ban takes immediate effect for all upcoming league fixtures.
