Forest Green Rovers officials denied reports that a spectator was ejected for consuming meat during a match against Stockport County. The Gloucestershire club, which serves only vegan food at its stadium, clarified its stance following social media claims. A spokesperson stated that while fans cannot bring external food into the ground, no one was removed for eating a bacon sandwich specifically.
The incident allegedly occurred during the final match of the season on April 25. Stewards reportedly reminded several supporters about the venue policies regarding outside refreshments. According to Sky Sports, the club maintains a strict vegan-only policy for all food sold and served on the premises. The club became the world's first carbon-neutral football team in 2017, per The Guardian.
Forest Green Rovers finished their campaign in the National League following their recent relegation from League Two. Club officials emphasised that stadium regulations are enforced to maintain safety and uphold the organisation's environmental values. No further disciplinary actions are expected regarding the matter.
