Fans criticise high cost of World Cup rail fares

The Football Supporters' Association has accused providers of gouging fans with high ticket prices for travel to matches in New Jersey.

Supporters attending World Cup fixtures in New Jersey face rail fares of £111 for certain journeys. The Football Supporters' Association (FSA) stated that fans are being "fleeced" and "gouged" by these costs. The organisation expressed concern that high travel prices could price regular supporters out of the tournament, according to The Guardian.

FSA officials noted that the pricing structure appears to target international visitors who may not be familiar with local transit options. This follows reports of similar price surges for accommodation near tournament venues. The association urged organisers to intervene and ensure affordable transport links for all match attendees, per Sky Sports.

The 2026 World Cup is being hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. New Jersey's MetLife Stadium is scheduled to host multiple games, including the final. Tournament organisers have previously pledged to make the event accessible, but the FSA maintains that current transport costs contradict these promises.
