Chris Hughton has confirmed he received treatment for prostate cancer during the previous year. The former football manager disclosed his diagnosis during an interview with the Prostate Cancer UK charity. Hughton stated he initially showed no symptoms before a routine health check identified the condition, according to The Guardian.
Following his diagnosis, the 67-year-old underwent surgery to remove his prostate. He described the recovery process as successful and has since returned to good health, per Sky Sports. Hughton chose to share his experience to encourage more men to seek regular screenings and raise awareness for the charity.
The former Republic of Ireland defender remains one of the most experienced managers in the English game. He previously led Brighton and Hove Albion to the Premier League in 2017 and held the position of Ghana national team head coach until January 2024. Hughton remains active in football circles while supporting health initiatives, according to various reports.
