Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy has described the club's academy players as some of the most talented in European football.

Brian Barry-Murphy joined Cardiff City as manager following his departure from Manchester City, where he led the Elite Development Squad. The 47-year-old Irishman stated that the quality of the youth system at the Welsh club influenced his decision to accept the role. According to Sky Sports, Barry-Murphy believes the Cardiff youngsters rank among the best in Europe.

The manager highlighted the technical ability and physical profile of the current crop of academy graduates. Per The Athletic, Cardiff City have recently integrated several homegrown players into the first-team squad. Barry-Murphy noted that the pathway from the academy to the senior side remains a priority for the Championship club.

Cardiff City currently sit in the mid-table positions of the Championship as they conclude their 2025-26 campaign. The manager expressed his intention to further develop these internal talents rather than relying solely on external transfers. He previously spent three years at Manchester City before moving to the Cardiff City Stadium earlier this season.
