Kelly Bailie plans to retire from competitive football after completing her 30th season with Glentoran Women. The defender joined the club as a teenager in 1996 and has remained a central figure throughout three decades of competition. Her tenure includes every season since the inception of the Northern Ireland Women's Football Association, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
Bailie has secured nearly 40 trophies during her career in Belfast, including multiple league titles and domestic cups. She also represented Northern Ireland at the senior international level and featured in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The veteran player noted that her decision followed careful consideration regarding the physical demands of the game, per the Irish News.
Glentoran Women currently compete in the Sports Direct Women's Premiership. Bailie remains the only player to have participated in every season of the top flight since it formed. She expects to transition into a coaching or ambassadorial role within the club once the current campaign concludes later this year.
