Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has received a 13-match suspension following a physical altercation during a recent derby match.

Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada faces 13 matches on the sidelines after punching an opponent during the Aragonese derby. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) competition committee issued the sanction following the incident involving a Huesca player, according to Reuters. The punch occurred during the closing stages of the fixture on 26 April, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Referee reports indicated that Andrada struck the rival player in the face while the ball was out of play. The committee categorised the action as a serious offence under Article 103 of the disciplinary code. In addition to the ban, the RFEF fined both the player and the club.

Zaragoza officials have not yet confirmed if they will appeal the decision, per Sky Sports. The suspension means Andrada will miss the remainder of the current campaign and the start of the next season. The club must now rely on their backup options for their upcoming league fixtures as they seek to maintain their position in the division.
