Wrexham AFC has received a significant financial boost after a minority stake sale to American investment firm Apollo Sports Capital.

Wrexham AFC has secured a £47.8 million financial injection, as revealed in recent Companies House filings. This investment follows the club's co-owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, selling a minority stake to Apollo Sports Capital (ASC) in December.

ASC, an American finance group with a majority stake in Atletico Madrid, aims to provide financial stability for Wrexham's rapid ascent through the divisions. The funds are earmarked for long-term plans, including infrastructure development, player recruitment, and enhancing the academy and women's set-up.

Reynolds and McElhenney retain the majority shareholding and controlling stake in the club. Wrexham currently occupies a Championship play-off position, pursuing a potential fourth consecutive promotion. Plans also include building a new Kop stand, which could increase the stadium's capacity to approximately 18,000.
