Wrexham Bolster Squad in Late Window Moves

Football

Wrexham completed several significant transfers during the January window, strengthening their squad for a Championship play-off push.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson oversaw a busy end to the January transfer window, bringing in three new players. Defender Zak Vyner joined from Bristol City for a reported £1.5m, signing a contract until the 2028-29 season. Forward Davis Keillor-Dunn returned to the club from Barnsley on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Striker Bailey Cadamarteri also arrived from Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.

The club also saw several departures to streamline the squad. Captain James McClean moved to Derry City on a free transfer, while striker Jake Bickerstaff joined Cheltenham Town permanently. Wing-back Jacob Mendy made his loan to Peterborough permanent, and other players, including Elliot Lee and Conor Coady, left on loan deals.

Wrexham currently sit sixth in the Championship table, occupying a play-off position. The Red Dragons secured this spot after a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. The new additions aim to support their challenge for promotion during the remainder of the season.
