Arsenal defender Ben White returns to the England squad for friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan after a three-year absence.

England manager Gareth Southgate has included Ben White in his squad for upcoming friendly fixtures at Wembley Stadium. The Arsenal defender last appeared for the national team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He left that tournament early for personal reasons and has not featured in an international selection since that period.

White joins the group following consistent performances for his club in the Premier League. The Football Association confirmed the 26-year-old is part of a 25-man squad preparing for matches against Uruguay and Japan. These fixtures serve as preparation for the European Championships scheduled for this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Several regular defenders miss out through injury, which creates an opening for the versatile former Brighton player. White has earned four caps for his country to date, per official England records. He is expected to report to St George's Park today to begin training with the rest of the senior men's squad. His inclusion follows discussions between Southgate and Arsenal sporting director Edu.
