Wales manager Craig Bellamy has excluded captain Aaron Ramsey from the squad for the upcoming World Cup play-off semi-final.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy has named his squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup play-off semi-final without captain Aaron Ramsey. The midfielder, who currently plays for Cardiff City, has struggled with persistent injury issues during the current campaign. Per Sky Sports, Ramsey has not featured for his country since a substitute appearance against Turkey in September 2024.

Bellamy confirmed the decision during a press conference on 17 March, 2026. The manager stated that the omission was based on the player's lack of match fitness and recent game time. Ramsey has made fewer than 10 appearances for Cardiff City this season due to recurring hamstring and calf problems, according to reporting by The Guardian.

Fulham winger Harry Wilson and Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson remain in the 26-man group. Wales are scheduled to host their play-off fixture later this month as they attempt to secure qualification for the 2026 tournament. Ramsey has earned 86 caps for the national team since his debut in 2008.
