Villa's McGinn faces weeks out with knee injury

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has suffered a knee injury, with manager Unai Emery confirming he could be sidelined for several weeks.

Aston Villa captain John McGinn faces a period on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury. The Scotland midfielder was forced off in the eighteenth minute during Villa's 2-0 Premier League defeat to Everton last Sunday, replaced by Evann Guessand. Manager Unai Emery confirmed McGinn is awaiting further medical assessment, but expects him to miss "some weeks".

McGinn did not travel with the squad for Thursday's Europa League fixture against Fenerbahce in Istanbul. His absence adds to Aston Villa's growing injury list, which has significantly impacted the squad. Midfielder Boubacar Kamara is reportedly out for the rest of the season with a serious knee problem. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is also unavailable due to a calf issue, and Ross Barkley remains sidelined with a knee injury. Amadou Onana has, however, returned to the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury, providing a slight boost for the club.
