Manchester United academy player JJ Gabriel is unable to feature for the senior team because of age regulations. The 15-year-old winger joined United from the Tottenham Hotspur academy and has featured for the under-18 side this season. Premier League rules state that players must be at least 16 years old to make a senior appearance, according to league regulations.
Gabriel travelled with the first-team squad for their pre-season tour of the United States in 2024 to gain experience of the senior environment. He has since performed well for the youth teams at Carrington. The player signed a pre-scholarship agreement with the club after choosing to join them over several other interested teams, per The Athletic.
United staff are currently managing his development within the youth ranks until he reaches the required age for professional consideration. The club previously integrated other teenagers into the senior setup under manager Erik ten Hag, but Gabriel must wait until at least his 16th birthday to be eligible for selection, according to Sky Sports.
