Kieran Trippier is to leave Newcastle United when his contract expires this summer. The defender joined the club from Atletico Madrid for £12m in January 2022, becoming the first signing under the current ownership. He made 92 appearances for the Magpies and scored four goals during his time at St James' Park, according to Sky Sports.
The 35-year-old played a significant role in Newcastle reaching the 2023 Carabao Cup final and securing Champions League qualification. He served as on-field captain for much of his tenure. Trippier retired from international football in August 2024 after earning 54 caps for England, per The Guardian.
Newcastle United sit eighth in the Premier League table following a recent 1-1 draw against Everton, according to the Premier League. The club has not yet announced a replacement for the veteran full-back. Trippier is now eligible to hold talks with overseas clubs regarding a free transfer for the 2026-27 campaign.
