The English Football League confirmed three matches were called off on Tuesday, January 27, because of Storm Chandra. Port Vale's League One home fixture against AFC Wimbledon was postponed. In League Two, Barrow's match against Oldham Athletic was cancelled on safety grounds. Cheltenham Town's home game with Gillingham also fell victim to the storm, due to a waterlogged pitch at the EV Charger Points Stadium. The Met Office had issued several weather warnings, including amber alerts for parts of south-west England, forecasting strong winds and heavy rain. Persistent rainfall overnight and into Tuesday morning led to pitch inspections and subsequent decisions to postpone the games. The severe conditions caused widespread flooding and travel disruption across the country. New dates for the rearranged fixtures will be announced in due course.
