Swindon Boss Holloway Slams 'Unprofessional' Clarke Ban

Ian Holloway criticised FA officials after Swindon captain Ollie Clarke received a late one-match suspension before their Barrow match.

Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway has criticised Football Association officials following a late ban for captain Ollie Clarke. Clarke received a one-match suspension on Friday, just 24 hours before Saturday's League Two fixture against Barrow.

The ban arose after Swindon fielded Clarke in an EFL Trophy match against Luton. The club believed Clarke's existing seven-game suspension did not apply to that competition. Swindon was also fined £1,000 for the error.

Holloway expressed his frustration to BBC Radio Wiltshire, calling the situation "unprofessional". He stated, "We had a terrible blow when I was told at five o'clock that my captain couldn't play after we prepared with him in the team." Holloway added that he had contacted the League Managers Association to complain, describing the decision as "absolutely disgusting".

Swindon went on to beat Barrow 3-1 in the League Two encounter, despite Clarke's absence.
