Struber calls for investment at Bristol City

Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber has stated the club requires further investment to compete for promotion to the Premier League.

The Robins head coach believes the club must spend more to end a top-flight absence lasting 46 years. Struber suggested that while the current squad possesses quality, additional financial backing is necessary to bridge the gap to the division's leading teams. Bristol City currently occupy 10th place in the Championship table following a 1-1 draw against Cardiff City, according to Sky Sports.

Since his appointment in January 2025, Struber has overseen a period of stabilisation at Ashton Gate. However, the Austrian emphasised that sustained success requires a more aggressive approach in the transfer market. The club last competed in the First Division during the 1979-80 season, per The Guardian.

Owner Steve Lansdown has previously funded significant infrastructure projects, including the redevelopment of the stadium and a new training centre. Despite these facilities, Struber maintains that playing staff investment remains the final hurdle for the West Country side. The manager's comments come ahead of the final fixtures of the 2025-26 campaign, as reported by The Athletic.
