Stranraer face Scottish Cup expulsion after fielding an ineligible player in their fourth-round victory over Queen's Park. The League Two club won the rearranged tie 6-5 on penalties on Tuesday night at Stair Park, setting up a lucrative fifth-round clash with Rangers at Ibrox.
Hearts goalkeeper Lyndon Tas, 17, joined Stranraer on loan the day of the rescheduled match and made a crucial penalty save in the shootout. Scottish Cup rules stipulate that only players eligible on the original fixture date can participate in postponed games.
The Scottish FA has issued Stranraer with a notice of complaint, citing a breach of Disciplinary Rule 303 and Competition Rule 12.5. A disciplinary hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday, January 28. Mandatory ejection from the competition is a distinct possibility, according to the SFA's Judicial Panel Protocol. If expelled, Queen's Park would progress to face Rangers.
