Tottenham Hotspur have identified Dougie Freedman as a target to become the club's new sporting director. Freedman currently holds the position of sporting director at Crystal Palace, where he has worked since 2017. He is credited with several successful transfers at Selhurst Park, including the signings of Marc Guehi, Michael Olise, and Eberechi Eze, according to The Guardian.
Tottenham are looking to fill the vacancy following the departure of Johan Lange. The North London club seeks a candidate to lead its long-term recruitment strategy and footballing infrastructure. Crystal Palace previously rejected an approach from Newcastle United for Freedman in May 2024, per Sky Sports.
Freedman signed a new contract with Palace following that interest to remain in South London. It is reported that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy admires the 51-year-old's track record in the domestic market. No formal agreement has been reached between the two clubs, according to The Athletic. Palace currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.
