Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), announced that Spain will host the 2030 World Cup final. Louzán made the declaration at a Madrid Sports Press Association event on Monday. Spain is co-hosting the tournament with Morocco and Portugal.
FIFA, world football's governing body, has not yet officially confirmed the venue for the decisive match. Morocco had expressed a desire to stage the final at its Grand Stade Hassan II, currently under construction near Casablanca. However, Louzán suggested recent organisational issues during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco could affect their bid.
Leading Spanish venues for the final include Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona's Camp Nou, both undergoing renovations. The 2030 World Cup will also feature centenary matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to mark 100 years since the inaugural tournament.
