Southampton Football Club and Coventry City Football Club face charges from the Football Association after an on-pitch confrontation. The incident occurred after the final whistle of their Championship fixture at St Mary's on Saturday, December 20, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Coventry manager Frank Lampard admitted his post-match gestures towards Southampton fans were "out of order", following abuse he received during the game. This sparked a reaction from players and staff from both sides, leading to the melee on the pitch.

The FA alleges both clubs failed to ensure their players and technical area staff did not behave in an improper or provocative way after the final whistle. Coventry had played much of the second half with ten men after Jay Dasilva received a red card in the 47th minute, adding to the tension. Both clubs have until Tuesday, December 30, to provide their responses to the charges.
