Senegal's men's national team displayed the Africa Cup of Nations trophy before a friendly against Peru, despite a recent title stripping.

Senegal players paraded the Africa Cup of Nations trophy at the Stade Sebastien Charlety in Paris on Saturday. The demonstration occurred before a friendly international fixture against Peru. The squad performed a lap of honour with the silverware despite a recent ruling from the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

Caf stripped Senegal of the 2023 title earlier this month following a dispute regarding player eligibility. The governing body ruled that the Teranga Lions fielded an ineligible player during the tournament held in Ivory Coast. Consequently, the title was officially vacated per reports from Reuters.

Fans at the stadium in the French capital cheered as captain Kalidou Koulibaly led the team across the pitch with the gold trophy. The Senegalese Football Federation has previously indicated it intends to appeal the Caf decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Peru and Senegal drew 1-1 in the match, according to match data from ESPN. This fixture served as a preparation match for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
