Senegal manager Pape Thiaw has received a five-match ban and a fine from CAF following his protest during the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Senegal manager Pape Thiaw has received a five-match ban and a $100,000 fine from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The sanction follows chaotic scenes during the Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco on January 18, 2026, in Rabat.

CAF found Thiaw guilty of "unsporting conduct" and "bringing the game into disrepute" after he led his players off the pitch. This protest occurred when Morocco received a controversial penalty in added time during normal play.

Senegal ultimately secured a 1-0 victory after extra time. The ban means Thiaw will miss upcoming international fixtures. Several players from both teams, along with their national federations, also received various disciplinary actions from CAF. Morocco's subsequent protest to overturn the final result was rejected.
