Scotland staff members Gary Dicker and Steven Naismith have confirmed the selection of Charlotte FC as the team's headquarters for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. The decision followed an extensive search for a suitable training site in North America. Dicker and Naismith highlighted the high-quality pitches and medical facilities available at the Major League Soccer club's base in North Carolina, according to The Athletic.
The base will serve as the central hub for Steve Clarke's squad during the group stages of the tournament. The 2026 competition is the first 48-team World Cup and features matches across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Scotland chose the location due to its climate and logistical advantages for travelling between host cities, per Sky Sports. The Scottish Football Association prioritised a base that offered elite-level privacy and recovery resources. This selection ensures the team has a consistent training environment throughout the opening phase of the finals.
