Mamadou Sarr is in contention for a place in the Chelsea squad to face Arsenal following his recent debut for the Senegal national team.

Mamadou Sarr is pushing for a first Premier League start as Chelsea prepare to host Arsenal. The 20-year-old defender joined the London club from Lyon for £8.5m in August 2024, according to Sky Sports. Sarr previously worked under Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior during a loan spell at Strasbourg, where Rosenior described their relationship as being like father and son.

The centre-back recently earned his first senior international caps for Senegal during the Africa Cup of Nations. Sarr appeared as a substitute in a 2-0 victory over Guinea and started in a 1-1 draw against Cameroon, per Transfermarkt. Rosenior has praised the defender's technical ability and maturity since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea currently sit in the top half of the table as they seek to qualify for European competition. Sarr has made five substitute appearances in the league so far this season. The defender remains a key part of Rosenior's long-term defensive plans, according to The Athletic.
