Norwich City striker Josh Sargent has signed for Major League Soccer club Toronto FC in a deal worth more than £20m.

Toronto FC secured the signature of the United States international forward on Friday. The Canadian club agreed a transfer fee exceeding £20m with Norwich City for the 26-year-old, according to The Athletic. Sargent moves to the Major League Soccer side after spending nearly five seasons in English football.

The striker joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in 2021 and scored 33 goals in 105 appearances for the Norfolk club. He finished as the leading scorer for the Canaries during the previous Championship campaign, per Sky Sports. Sargent travels to Canada to join the squad immediately for the start of the 2026 season.

Norwich City officials confirmed the departure earlier today, noting the deal represents a club-record sale. The forward previously spent time in Germany before his move to Carrow Road. He has earned 25 caps for his country, scoring five times. Toronto FC identifies Sargent as a designated player to lead its attack, according to ESPN reports.
