Rotherham United have dismissed manager Matt Hamshaw following a 5-0 loss to Peterborough United in League One.

Rotherham United have sacked manager Matt Hamshaw after 18 months in the role. The decision follows a 5-0 defeat at Peterborough United on Tuesday evening, which leaves the club six points from safety in League One. The Millers currently occupy 23rd place in the table with eight matches remaining in the season, according to the EFL.

Hamshaw originally took charge at the New York Stadium in October 2024. He oversaw 72 matches during his tenure but recorded only two wins in the last 15 league outings. Assistant manager Dan Green and first-team coach Wayne Carlisle have also departed the South Yorkshire club with immediate effect, per Sky Sports.

Chairman Tony Stewart confirmed the search for a successor begins immediately. The club expects to appoint an interim coaching team before Saturday's fixture against Wycombe Wanderers. Rotherham have struggled for form since their relegation from the Championship last season, failing to move out of the bottom four since November, according to The Guardian.
