Wayne Rooney has commented on the development of Max Dowman at Arsenal, noting the player's recent impact for the club. Per Sky Sports, the 16-year-old midfielder became the youngest player to score in a UEFA Youth League fixture earlier this season. Dowman achieved this feat at the age of 14 during a match against Atalanta in September 2024.
Rooney suggested that while Dowman possesses the potential to contribute to a Premier League title win, he may need to balance football with his GCSE examinations. Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League table following their recent results, according to the Premier League. The North London club maintains a slim lead over Manchester City in the title race.
Dowman has already featured for Arsenal's under-18 and under-21 teams this season. The midfielder signed a scholarship agreement with the club after his record-breaking performances in European competition, per The Guardian. Coach Jack Wilshere previously praised the teenager's ability to compete against older opponents in the academy system.
