Romero: 'Disgraceful' Spurs Had 11 Fit Players

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero criticised the club's lack of senior players for their 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero has labelled the club's squad depth "disgraceful" after Sunday's 2-2 Premier League draw at home to Manchester City. Romero stated Spurs had only 11 fit senior players available for the match on 1 February 2026. He made the comments on Instagram following the fixture.

The Argentina international was himself forced off during the game due to illness. Manager Thomas Frank confirmed Romero had been struggling with the illness, having also played whilst unwell in a midweek European fixture.

Spurs were without several key players for the Manchester City clash, including defenders Djed Spence, Kevin Danso, and Micky van de Ven. Other notable absentees included Pedro Porro, Richarlison, and James Maddison. Dominic Solanke scored both goals for Tottenham in the draw.
