Republic of Ireland head coach Eileen Gleeson has selected Shamrock Rovers defender Maria Reynolds for the senior national squad. The call-up ahead of a World Cup qualifying double-header against Poland marks the first time Reynolds has joined the senior international group. She previously represented her country at under-19 level, according to the Football Association of Ireland.
Reynolds joins the 26-player squad as the only new face for the upcoming fixtures. Ireland currently sits in second place in their qualifying group behind Norway. The team travels to Gdynia for the first match on Friday before returning to Dublin for the second meeting on Tuesday, per the Irish Independent.
Midfielder Denise O'Sullivan remains unavailable due to a knee injury sustained during club duty. Gleeson confirmed that the rest of the squad reported for training on Monday without further fitness concerns. The group includes 10 players from the English Women's Super League, including Arsenal defender Katie McCabe, who continues as captain.
