Caroline Weir has been confirmed as the full-time captain for the Scotland women's national team. The Real Madrid midfielder takes over the role from Rachel Corsie, who retired in June last year. Weir, aged 30, has earned 115 caps for her country and previously led the team in six matches before missing a friendly against China in December.
Head coach Melissa Andreatta also named Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert as vice-captain. Scotland will begin their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign with a double-header against Luxembourg in March. The team travels to Luxembourg on March 3, with the return fixture scheduled four days later. Weir expressed her honour and delight at the appointment, calling it a proud moment for her and her family. She stated that every opportunity to represent Scotland is a privilege.
