The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) confirmed on Thursday that the match between the top two sides in Ligue 1 has been moved from 11 April to 13 May. The original date fell between the two legs of the Champions League quarter-final. PSG host Liverpool on 8 April before travelling to Anfield on 14 April, per Reuters.
LFP officials stated the decision aims to help France retain fifth place in the UEFA coefficient rankings. This position secures four qualification spots for the Champions League. Strasbourg's game at Brest has also been moved to May to aid their Conference League tie against Mainz, according to the Associated Press.
Lens officials criticised the decision, having previously described the request as unsportsmanlike. The club stated that Ligue 1 was being relegated to accommodate the European ambitions of certain parties. PSG currently lead Lens by one point at the top of the table with one game in hand.
