European governing body UEFA has updated its association coefficient rankings after the latest round of continental fixtures. The Premier League currently occupies a position that could grant a fifth qualification spot for next season's expanded Champions League. This additional place is awarded to the two nations with the best collective performance across all three European competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, according to Sky Sports.
Manchester City and Arsenal progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Liverpool and West Ham United remain active in the Europa League, while Aston Villa continues in the Europa Conference League, per reports from The Guardian. Each win and draw earned by these clubs contributes points to the national average.
Italy and Germany have previously led the rankings this term. However, the presence of five English teams in the final eight of their respective tournaments maintains the possibility of overtaking rivals. Final standings will be determined by the total points divided by the eight teams England entered into Europe this season, per UEFA regulations.
